Conch Independence Day

Conch Independence Day Party at Club Duck Key was Lip Smacken, as Steve Showerman announced in his artwork on the wall, with ribs and chicken. Our evening's rib chef is a famous "Conch" from Conch Key, Doc Halladay. Doc uses charcoal, barrels, burlap bags, and hooks to slow smoke/roast the ribs to perfection. Doc is also famous for his smoked fish. Also delicious on the menu was fried chicken, the Neville's great recipe for baked beans, and a nice tossed salad.

We all enjoyed the music of Dave Scott, www.flakeysmusicman.com. Our polka couple...aka Chris and Bernie, gave us a fabulous demonstration of their talents and we all were impressed!

The drink of the night was the Hemingway favorite, mojitos which Eddie and Gayle made with just the right mixture of ingredients.

The table decorations were very festive and colorful. Parrots were placed all around the Club. Lots of tropical shirts were worn by the Members, plus Marcel and Betsy wore authentic Cuban hats.

The Club Members would like to thank the members that hosted this great party...The Beachams, The Fensters, The Maimos, The McCormicks, The Nevilles, and thank you's also go out to Bill Cunningham for the extra pair of hands with the grill and Phyllis for helping serve, and of course, Brenda and Doyle.
